PCS Hosts 3rd Annual Clergy & Caregiver Breakfast
Our featured speaker was former Milwaukee County District Attorney, E. Michael McCann. Mr. McCann, a Roman Catholic, shared how his faith has guided his life and informs his vocation. E. Michael McCann served as the elected District Attorney of Milwaukee County in Wisconsin for 38years. Marcus White, Executive Director of Interfaith Conference and PCS Board Member facilitated this morning program. Thank you to our friends at Our Savior's Lutheran Church for opening their doors to our friends, colleagues and caregiver professionals for this event. Caring for Soldiers Returning from Deployment: Challenges and Opportunities Rev. David Sorenson held a moving presentation on supporting our returning soldiers and their families during a luncheon at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, April 2008. Rev. Sorenson is a 22-year chaplain with the Wisconsin Army National Guard and the Army Reserves. He served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Rev. Sorenson earned a Bronze Star for Service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He serves as Director of Pastoral Care for Lutheran Living Services and is a certified in Critical Incident Stress Management. Domestic and Family Violence This 2009 program focused on Family Violence, with the emphasis on how todays economic crisis affects family tensions. Debra Fields, Community Education & Prevention Coordinator, Sojourner Family Peace Center, Marcia Isherwood, RN, Aurora Parish Nurse in partnership with Gesu Parish & St. John Lutheran/Cudahy, Angela Mancuso, Co-Executive, Sojourner Family Peace Center and Mary Fran Wilcoxson, Executive Director, DayStar, Inc. made up the panel of experts. A Question and Answer session completed the program. "Couplehood as a Spiritual Path" Rev. Steven Fringer, PCS Clinic Director, held a workshop during the 2010 Pastoral Care Week. Steve shared insight from his training as an Imago Therapist, including, creating rewarding relationships and a happy life, creating effective couples therapy, turning conflict into an opportunity for growth and understanding the root cause of conflict. An intimate group met in one of the suites at our main office building. Those in attendance were invited to stop in our PCS office and enjoyed a continental breakfast. | |||
