Below gives flavor of what was to follow, namely, the development of an agency designed to provide a place for individuals, relationships, and families to come for psychotherapy delivered by individuals sensitive to the psychological, faith, and spiritual needs of people. As this is intended to be brief, and because all of us understand the value of "oral history", please feel free to ask questions about the past thirty-fours years and the years to come.

Dan Jonas began commuting to Milwaukee from Chicago, having completed his advanced training.
A meeting is called of eleven interested people and held at Deaconess Hospital.
A larger group of lay and clergy, people met at Holiday Inn West.
The first client, referred by Rev. Dan Lehman of Immanuel UCC, is seen at Albright United Methodist Church. The first meeting of the Executive Committee of the PCS Board is held at Christ Church - Episcopal.
The Jonas family moves to Shorewood.
The first year statistics.


The first PCS Board Meeting is held at Christ Church - Episcopal.
Dan Jonas is TV guest on Channel 36.
Articles of Incorporation are accepted. PCS becomes a not-for profit agency.
Mandated State-of-Wisconsin Approved Outpatient Mental Health Facility.
A PCS Advisory Board is formed at a meeting at North Shore Presbyterian Church.

Contacts with Judicatory Leaders produces initial denominational support.


PCS hosts the Regional AAPC meeting held at Marc Plaza Hotel.


PCS moves main office to 2825 N. Mayfair Rd.


The Good Sheperd Fund was established. This program is exclusive to PCS, assisting those who are uninsured or underinsured to receive the help they need. We continue to accept donations to this account and have helped hundreds since its inception.


On Sunday, November 1, 1998, All Saints Day, PCS celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the start of our services to the people in southeastern Wisconsin. Our devoted followers were there to help celebrate with an Ecumenical Worship Service at All Saints Cathedral, a procession to Astor Hotel with The Don Nedobeck Jazz Band and Celebration Feast with Guest Speaker The Reverend Holly Whitcomb.


We celebrated our 25th Anniversary with an Interfaith Gathering at the Archbishop Cousins Center. The service of Thanksgiving was celebrated by many of the dedicated PCS faithful.



Along with numerous loyal friends and supporters, The Pastoral Counseling Service celebrated its 30th Anniversary at a Pastoral Care Week luncheon with presenter Phil Chard. Philip is a nationally acclaimed speaker, trainer, and author. His newspaper column entitled "Out of My Mind" has appeared weekly in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel since 1985 and has received the Milwaukee Press Club Award for "Best Column". Phil presented "Nature's Way" Emotional Healing & Spiritual Growth Through Nature Interaction.
